Jack travels to New Zealand for the funeral of his mother, who abandoned him as a child. There he meets Jill, who he hopes will give him the answers he seeks. But the ghost of his mother appears and inhabits them, putting them in danger.

Went Up the Hill had its World Premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.

In 2025, the film received 4 AACTA nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Sound and Best Original Song for Vicky Krieps.
