Rob Sarkies (Out of the Blue, Consent, Jean) , Desray Armstrong (Stray, Juniper, Meathead, Ellen Is Leaving) and Vicky Pope (Gardening with Soul, Savage, Conversations with Teen Mums, Two Little Boys)  are very pleased to announce this year’s WELLINGTON WRITE ROOM SCREENWRITER’S RESIDENCY  in partnership with the good people at Toi Poneke Art Centre and Wellington City Council. This year we are also very pleased to have support to include a producer intern in the programme. Emerging Wellington producer Thomas Coppell will be joining us to observe and participate in the selection and development process during the residency.

He has diverse experience in film, animation, TV and web series, having started his indie career producing award winning short, Shmeat. Thomas’ production company Tomorrow, Rain, focuses on content with a “double shot of diversity”. Recent projects have included working with creative collective The Candle Wasters producing queer rom-com musical, Happy Playland, and webseries/webcomic hybrid Tragicomic, and producing animated pilot Into The Pickle Jar for TVNZ OnDemand with long time collaborator Matasila Freshwater.

Applications are open to Wellington residents and are due by 5pm on 20 April 2020.
